I hope you enjoy your visit and come away with a greater understanding of the breed and the rewards field training your own GSP can bring. GSPs typically live over ten years and have a long, useful life. As a result, I breed rather infrequently as I do so only when I am looking to acquire a new personal gun dog. When I do breed a litter, I am dedicated to preserving the very best characteristics that I possibly can.PLEASE NOTE : 1. German Shorthaired Pointers are not for everyone...they are a high energy/high maintenance bird dog. With patience, training, and socialization, they can make loyal companions and all purpose hunters...improperly socialized and bored, they can be a liability. 2. I believe that the purpose of the breed should be evidenced by field performance and intrinsic hunting characteristics before conformation. Conformation is very important, as "form follows function", but it should not be the primary goal of any breeder. |
